Sure, everyone can find a Green Ducati 750SS, Black  or Red  900SS to keep in the house, under glass, with an alarm. But what if you want a Ducati that you can ride without worrying about a dirt hitting the inside of the fender. One you can park at the corner and go inside a bar and enjoy a beer? The 750GT could be that bike for you.

and sold at the same time as the exotic 750/900SS,  the GT was just a regular Ducati twin. 739cc by way of 70x64mm bore and stroke with a pedestrian 6.7:1 compression ratio gave 52 hp at 6500rpm pushing the bike to 108mph. Not to bad, and obviously a good starting point for the realized potential of the SS’s

This seller has made some changes which improve upon the base numbers

You can debate on whether dual plugged cylinders are worth the effort (I know because I am having the internal debate over my own engine build) but there is always going to be the “Cool” factor. I think that they have done the right things to emulate the SS bike, but stopped at the right time before becoming a replica.
