Reader Ride: 1976 Moto Guzzi LeMans M1

One of our favorites, the Moto Guzzi LeMans hardly needs an introduction around here. Brent emailed if we’d list it and of course I’m always happy to help with a piece like this!

From the seller:

Hello,

I would like to submit my father’s 76 Guzzi LeMans M1 for your review. I am attaching several photos of it to accompany the ad.

Here are the particulars that he has given me so far:

850cc engine that has been fitted with a 1000cc Factory Big Bore kit
48k+ miles
40mm Dell’ortto Carbs
K and N Air Filters
Arlette Rear Sets
All 3 Rotors are machine bored for ventilation
New Brake Caliper Pucks
Harpers Outside Oil Filter Kit
Bar-End Mirrors
New Michelin Tires (<200 miles) He is asking in the neighborhood of $8500 for it. He lives in Tucson and needs to have the buyer pick up the bike. Brent

If you’re interested, please email the seller.

Good luck with the sale Brent! If you have a classic sport bike for sale, email us and we’ll see about getting yours on the site too.

850 LeMans is a great bike, surprisingly smooth and stable at speed. Too bad it’s not stock.

It’s still very well kept, and cetainly in Australia there are very few left without the 1000 kit through them. With the discs drilled and the thousand kit, this is still very reflective of the moment, and the bike is still very desirable, even if I take your point that absolute originality is desirable for some collectors.
There are a number of collectors here though, that would take it out on the road a bit, and this makes for a better real world bike. Shame I’m not buying, because even with freight, this would be attractively priced here.
